a word from our CEO
What led you to create HLB?
In 2018 when I filed for the LLC for HLB, the idea of starting an IT Staffing and Consulting firm seemed like a far away idea. I was working with a start-up business doing Operations and Design for Multi-Family Developments. My interest in the IT space was developing but was not my focus. I knew I wanted to create something for myself and my family, but I did not push myself too fully dive into what HLB could be.
COVID changed all of that. As construction and development jobs began to slow, IT was growing at an even higher pace, specifically in the Federal Healthcare sector. Now was the time. I started to see clearly the essential IT services that HLB could provide; how HLB could grow, and be successful at providing cutting edge service to a growing industry.
What is that brings you the most joy out of being the CEO of HLB?
HLB is about relationships. It’s not simply transactional. The mission is to develop and maintain professional relationships by understanding our clients’ challenges and working in creative ways to attract and retain critical talent. The truly fulfilling part of the work is helping people with their career growth and connecting them with elite companies. Those career opportunities are life changing and having that kind of impact is gratifying.
How are you empowering minorities in your community?
Small Business Owners are the backbone of our economy and community. Being a woman, minority business owner in a diverse IT stronghold like Atlanta, genuinely makes me proud. To be able to interact with other female business owners, to be able to hire top female talent, and most importantly to have a seat at the conference table, is EVERYTHING. From an early age, giving back to the community was an integral part of my upbringing. Having a business provides means and opportunity for community engagement. My hope is that HLB will be a role-model for giving back.
